Faulkner’s Light Brigade and Light House – LIVE!!

Please help us welcome Faulkner’s Light Brigade LIVE with their new interactive website!

This is a very special organization that you can become a supporting member of. This group preserves and protects the historic Faulkner’s Light House on Faulkner’s Island. They are installing a web camera and weather station later this year that will also be featured on their new website. This group also works with The US Fish and Wildlife to protect the migrating Terns in the spring. Hopefully they will be able to provide a web cam in time for us to share the incredible migration and nesting season on the island. One species is endangered and the island took a major hit with hurricane Irene last year. If you would like to become a member or make a donation or even sponsor the web cam project please contact them ASAP!

We are pleased to help train their volunteer web master Susan Weady of Royal Printing in Guilford CT to update and manage their site “in house”. We have been very pleased to produce this new website for the group and our shoreline community. You can subscribe to their site to receive email notifications about news and upcoming events there. This is the kind of site that will grow and breath with their community and it is a great group to join!

This is where I am moving towards, with WordPress. Check out Sara Cannon’s discussion about flexible grids, progressive enhancement, flexible images and video, media queries and more…. It is about making content beautiful and accessible on any device, phones, iPads, televisions, gaming consoles, refrigerators – you name it! I like having control of presentation so this is a giant leap for me, but one that is very exciting and one that you should begin to consider when working with a designer in the future.

SixteenRiverPress – GONE LIVE!

Check out the before & after for this Poetry Publishing Collective from San Franscico – Sixteen Rivers Press. We have helped them to bring their old site from the dark ages of tables, orange pay pal buttons and a blog that existed in a separate location into a clean beautifully integrated site that will serve them well for years to come. In the process we were able to integrate their outstanding logo and graphics from their current catalog throughout their new site. This is a group of authors whom all contribute to their publishing and content. Now they can have multiple members contributing to the site’s content, including their blog in order to keep their site up to date and high on the search engines! Congrats are often in order as this group is an award winning and extremely talented group of poets winning National Endowments for the Arts grants…. a great place to shop for books this holiday season!

They have the ability to manage their own content and update their own site with fresh content as often as they like now! The new blog posts will be automatically “tweeted” and posted to their Facebook Page all in one step. This is a great way to create word of mouth about your business, events and/or resources.

Subscribe to their site to stay up to date on specials and collections available in at the boutique. Thank you to Kim for allowing us to help her take a more proactive role in Lulu’s web presence.

Logos, Web Design, Marketing Materials and More… Before & After

Is it time to make over your web and print presence? Here is a great example of Before & After a Business Identity Make Over. Mary Jo Walker EA – a very well respected finance and tax preparation company serving the Greater New York area. Her old site was complete and useful as a page people could look up forms and contact information, kind of like a virtual bookmark. Her graphics looked good for the time but needed to be updated so her staff could print out letterhead on a digital printer and drop clean logos and marks into emails and letters. Her logo was not a clearly defined mark and served more as a page decoration on her web site.

Mary Jo Walker EA and company really do a great job of keeping business current as well as keeping up with the business of business. The new site automatically posts a link to their new blog post on their social media like, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Clients, the public and professional peers can sign up to receive an email notification whenever MJW posts new content to their blog too. This is a very useful service and tool as it keeps clients up to date about deadlines, opportunities and provides other community building opportunities. Clients can opt in or out of this service too. With the presentation, organization and functions of the new web site Mary Jo Walker and her team can publish their content ‘in house’. Done on a regular basis they get great search engine optimization too. The world will see them as experts of their field & they truly are. Keep in mind social media are good ‘word of mouth’ platforms but they can also be very important functions of business too. We will likely tune up her site a couple of times per year & if they need help updating the site because they get too busy working on client’s tax filings – we’ll be able to support them in this way too. The Other Woman -Private Chef, Classes & Catering – New Website & Biz cards!!

Congrats to Lauren for taking the leap and moving her business marketing on-line! We love her new website and hope she will blog about her classes and parties for us once in a while.

Her site, like all of our WordPress sites are connected to their social media so when she posts a new blog it is automatically posted on her Facebook Page as a status update. We can synchronize your site with any of the social media for you including Twitter, Linked In and much more. No need to do more than one update to keep all of your audiences up to date with what’s going on. This is a great way to create “word of mouth” about your business or organizations activities – a powerful community building tool. Plus if you subscribe to her site – whenever she posts new classes or makes now blog posts you will get an email notification! Gone are the days of waiting for people to hopefully look you up on line. These are much more than simple placemarker websites! Congrat Lauren, hopefully she will be so busy coking she will be hiring us to manage her site for her… 🙂
