  • WordPress 3.6 will be available any day now
  • WordPress celebrates its 10th birthday
  • In the last year there were more than 2.5 times posts and comments than last year
  • Last year there were over 46 million downloads of WordPress
  • There were 147,000 downloads every day of the year
  • There are 26,000 plug-ins in the WordPress directory
  • There were 336 themes added- 2.3 times more than last year

Here are a few more fun facts!

  • WordPress 3.6 will be called Oscar in honor of jazz musician Oscar Peterson
  • 9334 requested plug-ins to WordPress and 6758 were officially added
  • Use of WordPress across the worldwide web is up 2.2% to 18.9% of the top 10 million sites
  • There were 3x more sign ups on mobile devices
  • 3.6 will support native video- this is huge!
  • 3.6 will support native audio- this is totally awesome!
  • 3.6 will feature improved menus, auto-saves, revision control- very cool!

Graphics, Biz Cards and Website Updated… FYI

Here is a look at FYI Business Consulting & Outsource Services’s new business cards, a simple info-graphic that was included in some marketing campaigns and a screenshot of the website. We recently updated the site with some design work and there will be some more content or copy-writing work completed there soon too. This is a dynamic group of various experts that work together to bring state of the art resources, advice and solutions to business  both in house and on-line. WORDPRESS WEBSITE OWNER’S CHECKLIST – Get the download!

After the Taking Care of Business Show today I remembered a check list that I often use for keeping track of client’s important site details. What is even more amazing… I found it!

I realized today after chatting with Judy, Bob Carmela & Roseann that EVERYONE should keep these details on file. This is confidential information that should be securely recorded in 3 locations.  For example: A hard copy, a digital copy and a version saved or backed up on a back up hard drive. It should be updated whenever it is necessary. If your Web Editor is suddenly unavailable or you have a disaster of some kind these documents will be needed so that the lines of communication can be established with your customers and community as needed. When clients come to us looking for a new and improved site it is very helpful if they know their Host and URL details at the very least. Here is the downloadable PDF:  WORDPRESS WEBSITE OWNER’S CHECKLIST , please have your current web designer complete this form for your records so that when the time comes for you or your staff to access your web site,  you will be in complete control!
